My husband, Mark and our daughter, Melissa have made Ocala, Marion County our home since 1989. What a wonderful decision that has turned out to be! Melissa has enjoyed going to school through the Magnet Program and graduated with high honors and an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Vanguard High School. She is currently attending the University of Florida. Go Gators! As a family, we enjoy motorcycling, kayaking, tennis and many other outdoor activities. I am a member of the Marion Alachua Dog Training Association (MADTA) where I've had the opportunity to train my german shepherd dog, Falon in obedience and the sport of agility.

Each Christmas Season in Ocala the town celebrates in an event called "Light Up Ocala." One of my fondest memories with our daughter was the night emceed by the Grand Dame of Ocala, Mrs.Theresa Castro, who has since passed on and passed the torch. During this annual event all the trees are festooned with lights and lit up while the crowd in unison cries out, "Light Up Ocala!" And when the switch is flipped, so to speak, all the children full of candy and aticipation squeal with delight.

The Appleton Museum is a wonderful jewel that provides cultural and educational benefits that are vital for the citizens of Ocala. Exhibits from famous artists and exotic countries have been on loan to the Appleton and will continue to bring the beauty of precious works to our area. Thank you Appleton!! The Ocala Civic Theater offers various musicals and dramas. Our personal favorite in the March household is the traditional Nutcracker Ballet presented by the Jeanne Benson School of Ballet. The performance often features professional dancers who perform the most difficult pieces. It is a holiday tradition and Melissa and I strive to attend annually. What a treat! Visit their website at
